Giorgio Moroder

If there was anyone on the disco scene that really earned the title of being the king of disco it would have to be Giorgio Moroder, one look at the mustache on his face probably gives that away already. He was of the 'italo-disco' variety of music and was a producer that could not be matched. His disco songs were unique and usually easy going and cool as opposed to some faster disco of the time. He wrote, as you can imagine, mostly love songs. One of his biggest hits was the song Chase which turned into a hit but was actually written for a movie called Midnight Express.Without further ado, here is chase and a couple of other classics from Moroder.

 Song: Chase
Album: Midnight Express

Song: First Hand Experience in Second Hand Love
Album: From Here To Eternity

Song: I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone
Album: From Here To Eternity
(That mustache is just....glorious)

Giorgio Moroder's work has influenced many genres including new wave, house, and techno. He also influenced these genres with his work on various electronic musical equipment such as the synthesizer and the vocoder. After being a producer Moroder went on to own a recording studio and recorded with people such David Bowie, Elton John, Electric Light Orchestra, and Led Zeppelin. Some of you may have heard some of Moroder's songs from the popular Grand Theft Auto games because someone at Rockstar Games is certainly a fan. Moroder's disco music is top notch for dancing or even just easy listening, remember this guy's name the next time you throw a party.
